Bitter Melon / Bitter Gourd / Pinyin / Pare / Paakharkaai / Kaakarakaya / Karela / Balsam Pear -THAI - 5 Seeds (Small Fruit)
This is a very popular vegetable growing on a vine which goes about 5-6m tall. A vigorous high yielding variety producing small fruits. It's cultivated around the world for its edible fruit, which is considered a staple in many types of Asian and Indian cuisine. We have tried this variety and it's our ALL TIME favourite - we cook it as stuffed vegetable, stir fry or simply juice them when there will be abundance of harvest.
They are very easy to grow & easy to maintain. The plant can produce abundance of small sized bitter melons for few months as long as you are giving the plant sufficient fertiliser and water well.
Best time to sow seeds after frost, seeds need min 20°C to germinate. For better germination rate, soak the seeds in water for a few hours before planting and sow them in 20mm deep in a sunny, well-drained position. They germinate between 10-14 days. Sow them 90 apart. Enjoy your harvest approx. 65-70 days from transplanting.
