CHILLI Pimientos de Padrón - 10 Seeds
Bite sized fruits are mild when green, loved by chefs, great for pickling.
These small-fruited chillies originated in Galicia, northwest Spain, where the bite-sized green fruits are sauteed in olive oil and served with coarse-ground sea salt in tapas bars across the country. Most of the chillies are relatively mild, but an occasional unpredictable hot one led a New York Times writer to call eating the dish a game of “Spanish Roulette!” Also fine for pickled chilli; the heat increases as they ripen to red. An authentic regional variety.
Care: Germination temperature is between 20°C and 28°C (germination period: 8-21 days); it is therefore recommended to use a greenhouse and a heating mat. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
