TURNIP Golden Globe - 50+ Seeds HEIRLOOM
(Brassica rapa)
These are pale yellow globe shaped turnips which have a deep golden yellow flesh. The 7-10cm globes have a flavor similar to rutabagas and tops are excellent cooked with other mixed greens. Roots of this variety store reliably well into the winter months. They are sweet tender and mild and have a fine flavor. 55 days to maturity.
Turnip Plants perform best in a well-tilled soil with good drainage that has been amended with some organic material. Turnips are a cool season crop; roots become strong flavored and woody in prolonged heat. Sow direct to the garden in early spring where summers remain cool. In warm climates, sow in late summer for an autumn crop allowing 6-8 weeks before first expected hard frost.
Propagation notes will be supplied with seed packet.
