Start from an occasion

Each occasion opens the personaliser with a design, three headlines, three messages and a seed already chosen. Change any of it.

  • Wedding favours

Celebration Stamp design. Suggested seed: Nigella, love-in-a-mist. Love-in-a-mist is a cottage flower that is sown straight into the ground in autumn and comes back on its own for years; the favour keeps going after the day.

  • Engagement parties, bridal showers and hen's days

Celebration Stamp design. Suggested seed: Candytuft. Candytuft flowers about three months after sowing, so a packet given at the shower is in flower by the wedding.

Questions

Which seeds suit wedding favours?

Nigella, love-in-a-mist, is our suggestion: it is sown straight into the ground in autumn and comes back on its own for years. Candytuft, baby's breath and Californian poppy are the alternatives in the wedding preset, and any of the 25 varieties can be chosen.

Why give seeds at a wedding?

A seed packet is a favour guests plant instead of keeping, and it flowers months after the day. Love-in-a-mist carries the meaning in its name and self-seeds, so it comes back on its own for years.

How many packets do we need?

One per guest: for 120 guests, 120 packets in colour cost $2.99 each, or $358.80. Add a few for the tables and for anyone who asks for a second; the minimum order is 50.

What should we write on the favours?

Your names and the date, a line of thanks, and when to sow the seed. The wedding preset starts with the headline 'Thank you for coming' and a 30-word message about sowing love-in-a-mist in autumn; use it as it is or write your own.

What lines can go on a seed favour?

Three headlines are written for you in the personaliser: 'Thank you for coming', 'Sow these when you get home' and 'From our garden to yours'. Each comes with a message that tells guests what the seed is and when to sow it.

How do seed packets compare with other favours on waste?

A packet is a white paper envelope, recyclable with paper once the satchel is taken out, holding a sealed foil laminate satchel of seed that goes in general waste. What guests keep is the plant.

How can we set the favours out at the reception?

Lay one packet on each place setting, or stand them upright in a shallow box by the door with a small sign. Each packet is 90 x 145 mm, so it sits on a side plate or against a glass.
