Description

Tomato Gold Nugget seeds

Solanum lycopersicum
Packet: 30 seeds, 1g

Gold Nugget cherry tomato seeds produce compact determinate plants 61 cm tall. Gold Nugget's compact size makes it an ideal choice for containers and small garden spaces. This variety sets easily in cool weather and is usually the first of any tomato variety to ripen. It is a Winner of the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Award of Garden Merit.

Enjoy prolific early yields of lovely golden yellow globes the size of ping pong balls. The majority of Gold Nugget cherry tomatoes are seedless until the end of the season. Fruits have a sweet, flavourful and balanced taste.

This variety was developed specifically for cool climates by Dr. James Baggett of Oregon State University in the early 1980's. The plants are dependable producers. Provided fruits are harvested regularly, the plants will outperform most other cherry varieties.

This is a DETERMINATE & BUSH variety.

Important for WA Express
We do not provide Express parcel service for WA orders because Quarantine inspection delays delivery, which defeats the purpose of Express.

State Specific Requirements and Fees

  • Western Australia, add $6 per order for Quarantine inspection. All WA seed orders go to Quarantine WA for inspection. Tracking (if any) is activated after inspection, which may take up to 10 business days from our packing date. Delivery within WA generally takes an additional 1 to 5 business days after release from Perth Airport.

  • Tasmania, add $3 per order for Biosecurity paperwork. Maximum 1 kg per seed line item. Biosecurity Tasmania restrictions apply.

Tracking and Delivery

  • You will receive a dispatch email with a tracking number when your order ships from our warehouse. Some small-value orders may ship as untracked letters.

  • Signature on delivery is available. Add $3.95. If not selected, the carrier may leave the parcel in a safe place, your letterbox if it fits, or at a collection point. ID may be required for Registered or Signature services.

Delivery Timeframes and Late or Missing Orders

  • Dispatch and delivery times are estimates. Events outside our control, such as weather or carrier delays, can affect timing.

  • We use Australia Post guidelines to decide when an order is considered late or missing.

Tomato seeds

Some time ago I undertook some research on the best tomatoes to grow in my area. Living in Canberra I was looking for tomato types that would tolerate some cool weather. I was also looking for a mix of cherry and larger fruit and a range of colours.
I found Happy Valley Seeds web site which detailed a wide choice of plants with good technical descriptions (ie if determinate or not, plant size and other characteristics) at very reasonable prices.
I ordered six different types of tomatoes. These were sent to me by Australia Post. After a short time the seeds did not arrive in the mail. I checked with my local post office with no success. I sent an explanatory email to Happy Valley Seeds and received a very supportive response. The also lodged a query with Australia Post. Lo and behold in the next few days the seeds arrived in the mail. I suspect that they had been delivered to the wrong address and had been redirected despite the correct address having been printed clearly on the package by Happy Valley Seeds.
I am now looking forward to Germinating the seeds in early August and planting out the seedlings in early Spring.
Happy Valley Seeds provided a terrific service

Prolific sweet tomatoes

I let this one grow wild as it's a dwarf plant. The plant seems to have good heat tolerance and despite so many branches as i didnt prune it...it shows no sign of mildew. The tomatoes are sweet and tasty and the skin is not thick. I'll grow these again.

Cherry tomatoes by the back door.

I will be planting these seeds in the Spring. I won’t be paying Supermarket prices for my favourite salad vegetable.
