BEETROOT Golden - 30 HEIRLOOM Seeds
Introduced in the USA in the 1940's. These golden beauties are an absolute delight, use them whole or quartered, baked, sautéed, steamed or in soups. They have a slightly honeyed taste, sweeter than red beetroots, and they don’t dye other ingredients or stain the dishes they are prepared in, after all, at the end of a long work day, the last thing you want to do is get your hands dirty.
Exceptionally sweet roots with green tasty leaves. Tender and sweet even when they get older, doesn't become fiborous. Tops ideal for use as spinach with excellent flavour, doesn't stain, use cooked, in salads or for pickling.
Golden Beetroots have a great mild taste with golden roots that can be lifted as baby beets, making an attractive addition to mixed salads, or left to mature.
Beetroots are remarkably easy to grow and can be grown across a wide range of climates. It prefers moist, sunny conditions with not excessive heat. It is sown as a warm season crop in most regions, but performs best during the cooler, drier months in tropical zones where it may prefer some shade in summer conditions
Sow seeds direct or in punnets in winter/ cooler times in tropics and anytime in milder climates. Space plants 10cms apart in rows 20cms wide.
Harvest leaves after 35 days and after 60 days for the root.
