BURDOCK Takinogawa Long - 15 Seeds
Also called Gobo (Japanese burdock). This is a Japanese vegetable used like salsify with a strong aroma and popular in Japanese cuisine. The roots can grow up to 1 m long. It is 2m high biennial with large dock shaped leaves. Cultivated as a commercial root vegetable with a flavour of Salsify. Sow in warmer months 5 - 10cm apart. Cook like carrots in soups, stews and stores well.
Young roots can be peeled and eaten in salads, older roots are cooked as a root vegetable. Very popular in Asian cuisine. Mild bittersweet flavour. Strong aroma. Has many medicinal uses. Fast-growing.
