(Salsola komarovii)
Salsola (Okahijiki) is an annual native to Asia and Siberia. which grows 20 to 50 cm tall and produces insignificant flowers in late summer.
It is very tolerant of poor soils and salt, so can be grown well, even at the very edge of coastal areas, but enjoys plenty of sunlight.
It can be cut several times during the growing season and the younger shoots are tenderer.
Once flowered Salsola is not suitable for eating. It takes about 1 ½ months to harvest after sowing
Salsola (Okahijiki) is a rich source of vitamins A and K and iron,
calcium, potassium, and laminin, a protein needed by muscles.
