Colour and print

Your screen shows colour as light; we print with toner on uncoated white paper, so printed colours differ from the screen and can vary a little from batch to batch. Our printer is built for line art and type, not for large solid blocks: big areas of dark colour can print unevenly, so the designs keep fills small and leave a 6 mm unprinted margin around the edge. These are characteristics of the product, not defects. If you need to see the real thing first, order a sample pack (five printed envelopes, $15 posted).

Step 3 of 5: Your words

Step 4 of 5: Quantity and delivery

20 to 2,499. For 2,500 or more, ask us for a quote.

GST included

Prices include GST. Postage is one charge for the whole order, set by the number of packets and the same to every state; choose standard or Express Post at checkout (Express Post does not go to Western Australia). We reserve the right to revise the postage charge depending on the order size, and will contact you before anything is printed if it changes. Order by 12 pm Sydney time on a business day to count that day. Store discount codes do not apply to custom seed packets. How the packets are made (opens in a new tab).

What would you like to order?

Design help

Order custom packets on their own: a cart that also holds other seed pays postage twice.

Step 5 of 5: Check your proof
Front, 90 x 145 mm
Back, 90 x 145 mm

The watermark shows here and on your proof only. Your printed packets won't have it.

Dispatch

We print exactly what you approve. Before anything is printed you will see the front and back of the packet at full size on screen (and as a PDF if you ask). Check spelling, names, dates, the layout and how sharp your logo looks. Once you approve the proof we cannot change it, and errors that were visible on the approved proof (typos, wrong dates, blurry images, cut-off text, colours as shown) are not a fault in the goods. Reprinting to fix an approved error is charged at the per-packet price for the reprint quantity, with no design fee.

Delivery notes, a deadline, or anything about the design you want us to check. It goes on your order.

For schools, councils and charities paying by card. To pay on invoice, ask for a quote.

Tick the boxes above, then add your packets to the cart.

About these packets

A white 90 x 145 mm envelope printed front and back with one of our finished designs and your words, with a sealed satchel of Happy Valley Seeds seed inside.

Choose the occasion and a design, add your names, date and message, pick the seed and check both sides at full size before you pay. The smallest order is 20 packets of a design.

Each price covers the printed envelope, the seed satchel, filling, sealing and GST. Postage depends on how many packets you order.

Questions about designing

Is the proof on screen exactly what you print?

Yes. The front and back you approve before you pay are drawn at the real size, 90 x 145 mm, and we print from that saved design. Colours look a little different on paper, because your screen shows colour as light and we print with toner.

When will my packets be dispatched?

The designer shows the dispatch window before you pay: 1 to 3 business days for up to 250 packets, depending on the time of year, 4 for 251 to 1,000 and 7 for 1,001 to 2,500, from your approval and payment. Orders placed before 12 pm Sydney time on a business day count from that day. Orders to Western Australia leave on the Friday after they are finished.

Can I order more than one design at once?

Yes, up to three designs, each of 20 packets or more: finish the first, add it to the cart, then start the next. For four or more designs, ask us for a quote.

Can I change the fonts and colours?

Yes. In step 3 choose a look, a matched set of fonts, spacing and colours, or set each line yourself: a font from 56 free faces, its size, line height and letter spacing, and a colour for the name, the small lines and the message from a palette tested on our printer. The proof shows exactly what you chose, and we print from that.

Can I change the picture on a design?

On most designs, yes. Under the preview, Change the picture opens a library of more than 360 drawings and paintings, sorted by mood and searchable by word. The new picture is fitted into the design's own picture space, so your words stay clear of it. Some designs are built around one picture and keep it.

Can I save my design and come back to it later?

Yes. This browser keeps your design as you go, and step 5 has Copy link, which gives you a link that opens the design exactly as you left it, on any device. Send it to someone for a second opinion, or keep it to reorder the same packets later.

What is the smallest order, and what does a packet cost?

Twenty packets of a design, and up to three designs on one order. In full colour with Standard seed a packet is $3.89 for 20 to 49, $3.49 for 50 to 99, $2.99 for 100 to 249, $2.49 for 250 to 499, $2.19 for 500 to 999 and $1.89 for 1,000 to 2,499, GST included. Black print costs less and Premium or certified organic seed a little more; the table under the quantity shows every band for your choices, and the total before you pay.

Why are there faint marks across my design on screen?

The faint Happy Valley Seeds marks over the design on screen are not printed. They are there only while the design is on screen, because the finished designs are ours and print only on packets we supply. The proof PDF carries a mark too, for the same reason. The packets themselves carry only the design and your words.

Can we put our studio logo on seed packets?

Yes. Choose a design with a logo box, upload your logo, and type your studio's name and website. With no logo, the name prints in the box. Yoga and pilates studios, gyms, dojos and retreats use them for welcome packs, end-of-term thanks and grading days. You see both sides at full size before you pay, and the smallest order is 20 packets.

Do seed packets make good gifts for gym members and students?

They are light and flat, so they fit in a welcome bag or a gym bag, and they cost less than most gifts: from $3.89 a packet, down to $1.89 at 1,000. Every packet holds a sealed satchel of our seed with how to sow it, and your words on the front. Studios hand them out at the end of a term, a challenge or a grading.

Can we order seed packets as christening bomboniere?

Yes. Choose a christening, communion or naming day design, type your child's name and the date, and choose the seed. The same designs suit a mitzvah, a hens day or a bridal shower. Every packet holds a sealed satchel of our seed with how to sow it. You see both sides at full size before you pay, and the smallest order is 20 packets.

Can schools and councils order seed packets for Harmony Week or Grandparents Day?

Yes. Choose a design with a logo box, upload your logo, and type your school's or council's name and website; with no logo, the name prints in the box. Harmony Week, Grandparents Day and seniors festivals each have designs of their own. Schools, universities, councils and registered charities can pay on a purchase order. Packets are $3.89 each for 20, down to $1.89 at 1,000, GST included.

Do you print seed packets for real estate letterbox drops?

Yes. Agents use them for just listed and just sold drops and through the selling season. Choose a design with a logo box, add your agency logo, your name and website, and a line for the street. These designs open with our name along the side seam, and the QR code on the back leads to a grow guide for the seed. From 20 packets; for 2,500 or more of one design, ask us for a quote.

Can election candidates order seed packets for a campaign?

Yes. Every election design has a slot for the authorisation line that electoral law asks for on printed campaign material: type the name and address of the person authorising it, and it prints at the foot of the back. The designs open with no Happy Valley Seeds name on the envelope and a QR code to a plain grow page. We print for candidates of any party, or none, from 20 packets.

Can you leave your name off the packets, and what does the QR code do?

Yes. Under Packet options you choose where our name goes: on the back beside the QR code, along the side seam, or not on the envelope at all. The sealed seed satchel inside always carries our name. The QR code on the back opens our grow guide for the seed. You can point it at the same guide on a plain page with no shop around it, at your own link, or leave it off.
